The Right Insulation for Every Space

Every building is different, so we never guess. We look at how your space is built and how you use it, then recommend the material that gives you the best R-value and the best value. Most homes today should sit between R-50 and R-60. Not sure which option is right for your space? Every project starts with a free quote, either over the phone or in person. Send us a few photos or book an assessment and we will give you an honest recommendation.

Blown-In Insulation

Blown-in insulation is loose-fill material that is blown into your attic using specialized equipment. Because it settles into every gap, corner and hard-to-reach spot around joists, wiring and vents, it creates an even, seamless layer that batts often cannot match in an attic space.

It is one of the most cost-effective ways to improve an older home. Many houses in Central Alberta were built with R-20 to R-30 in the attic, well below the R-50 to R-60 that current energy codes call for. We can blow new insulation right over top of what you already have, so there is no messy tear-out in most cases. Before we start, we check your attic for proper ventilation and baffles so your roof can breathe and moisture does not build up.

Good for: attic top-ups in existing homes, new home builds, detached garages and shop ceilings.

Batt Insulation

Batt insulation comes in pre-cut panels that fit between wall studs, floor joists and ceiling rafters. It is the go-to choice for walls, basements and vaulted ceilings where blown-in insulation is not practical.

We install two main types. Fiberglass batts are an affordable, proven option for most walls and ceilings. Mineral wool batts cost a little more but offer better fire resistance, sound dampening and moisture resistance, which makes them a great fit for basements, shared walls, mechanical rooms and shops. When you request a quote, we look at how your space is built and how you plan to use it, then recommend the product that gives you the best R-value for your budget. Every batt is cut and fitted carefully, because gaps and compressed insulation are where heat escapes.

Good for: exterior walls, basement walls, floor joists, vaulted ceilings, renovations and new construction.

Spray Foam Insulation

Spray foam expands as it is applied, sealing cracks and gaps while it insulates. That makes it one of the best options for stopping drafts in small, awkward areas where air leaks are hard to reach with other materials.

We offer spray foam for smaller-scale projects and can usually get the work done quickly. Common jobs include rim joists in basements, around windows and doors, plumbing and wiring penetrations, and small crawl spaces. If you are planning a larger spray foam project, give us a call and we will talk through your options or point you in the right direction.

Good for: rim joists, air sealing, small crawl spaces and tight or irregular spaces.

Attic Upgrades and Hatch Installation

If your upstairs is cold in the winter, your furnace seems to run nonstop or you see icicles and ice dams along the edge of your roof, your attic insulation may be letting you down. An attic upgrade is often the single biggest improvement you can make to a home’s comfort and heating costs.

We start by checking what you currently have, how deep it is and whether it is in good shape. From there, we can bring your attic up from R-30 to R-60 and make sure ventilation is not blocked in the process. We also install new, well-fitted attic hatches. An old hatch with no insulation or weatherstripping can leak a surprising amount of warm air, so it is worth fixing while we are up there.

Good for: older homes, cold upstairs rooms, high heating bills and energy efficiency renovations.

Shops, Garages and New Builds

A shop or garage that holds heat is a space you can actually use all winter. Whether you are finishing a 40 x 60 shop, insulating a brand new garage or working with a builder on a new home, we size the job properly and choose materials that suit the building and how you will use it.

For new construction, we work around your build schedule and coordinate with your contractor so insulation is done on time and ready for inspection and drywall. For shops and garages, we often combine batt insulation in the walls with blown-in insulation in the ceiling to get strong performance at a fair price. We work efficiently, communicate clearly from quote to finish and leave the site clean when we are done.

Good for: heated shops, detached and attached garages, new homes and builder projects.

Attic Mold Removal

Mold in the attic is common in Central Alberta, where cold winters meet warm indoor air. When moist air leaks into the attic, it turns to frost on the underside of the roof, and when that frost melts, the damp wood becomes a perfect place for mold to grow. Signs include black or grey staining on the roof boards, a musty smell, damp insulation, or frost and dripping in the attic during winter.

Every job starts with an inspection to find out how far the mold has spread and what caused it. Common culprits include bathroom fans venting into the attic, blocked soffit vents and air leaks around light fixtures and hatches. We remove the mold, treat the wood to help prevent regrowth and fix the problem at the source. Once the attic is clean and dry, we reinsulate it to today’s R-50 to R-60 standard, so you get the cleanup, the repair and the insulation in one job.

Good for: musty smells, stained roof sheathing, attic frost or dripping, damp insulation and homes being prepared for sale or inspection.
